Zalakaros can be reached on different ways from more directions. 7 km away from the town at Zalakomár there goes the route no.7 (E 71), on which in the northern direction you can reach the capital (Budapest) 180 km away, if you turn the south travelling through Nagykanizsa you can reach the southern boarder. Route 75 and 76 goes to the western boarder through Zalaegerszeg. The Lake Balaton is 20 km away from the town, that you can found from the direction of Balatonszentgyörgy or Keszthely as well.
There is a scheduled bus line which operates all the year provide direct services to Budapest and between some other cities in Hungary.
The nearest airport to the town is about 15 km at Sármellék, where not just private and light aircraft can land but big jets as well. Balaton Airport now can host charter flights from Germany and Russia mainly.
